Dow's 317-point jump led by gains for IBM, Procter & Gamble stocks

Shares of IBM and Procter & Gamble are posting strong returns Wednesday morning, propelling the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. Shares of IBM IBM, +7.19% and Procter & Gamble PG, +2.72% have contributed about a quarter of the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.77% is trading 317 points higher (0.9%). IBM’s shares have risen $8.29 (6.4%) while those of Procter & Gamble are up $3.95 (2.5%), combining for an approximately 81-point boost for the Dow. Cisco CSCO, +1.96%, Goldman Sachs GS, +2.46%, and Visa V, +1.90% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the Dow results in a 6.59-point swing.
