Dow's 286-point jump highlighted by gains in Visa, Microsoft shares

Shares of Visa and Microsoft are seeing strong returns Wednesday morning, propelling the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. Shares of Visa V, +8.05% and Microsoft MSFT, +4.25% are contributing about two thirds of the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.39% is trading 286 points (0.9%) higher. Visa’s shares have gained $19.44 (9.7%) while those of Microsoft have gained $14.70 (5.4%), combining for an approximately 225-point bump for the Dow. Salesforce Inc. CRM, +2.07%, Nike NKE, +1.94%, and Home Depot HD, +0.81% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.59-point swing.
