Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.22% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 09:59AM(IST)on Monday in a weak market.

Laurus(up 2.2 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 2.04 per cent), Biocon(up 1.91 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.46 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.07 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Alkem Laboratories(down 0.81 per cent), Cipla(down 0.69 per cent), Abbott India(down 0.61 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(down 0.22 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.19 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.22 per cent at 12043.4 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 2.95 points at 17362.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 14.23 points at 58977.29.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy, Rail Vikas Nigam and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Asian Hotels, Systango Technologie, TTK Healthcare, Pondy Oxides and Kirloskar Bros. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Vikas Proppant & Gr, TCI Finance, Eastern Silk, Next Mediaworks and ICDS Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
